I first knew I wanted a cafe' Sportster
in the summer of 2001. I hadn't had
my bike very long and had only done
the standard
Harley Tax
thing.
At the first
CAMS
meeting I saw three cafe' Sportsters.
After only a few minutes I knew I had to
have one.   This is what I built over four years on a low budget.
At one point I actually inverted
the stock handlebars.   This was a
no cost cafe' look but turned out
not to be what I wanted.   So one of
the first things I did was buy the
Ace Bars from Bella Corse.   A nice alternative to clip-ons.
I eventually scored a 2-1 pipe on
e-bay.   It is a Bub Enterprises 2-1
specifically made for the Sportster,
but it doesn't work with forward
controls (what everyone else wants)
so I got a good deal.   I splurged for
brand new Crossroads Performance rearsets and the XX fork brace.
Stock suspension was at first replaced with
Progressive Suspension 14.25" rear shocks,
Progressive springs and Race Tech emulators up front.
Later I put a set of Works Performance 13.75" billet trackers on the rear.
Engine mods are a 1200 conversion kit from Rameys Motorcycle Parts using Wiseco reverse dome pistons, 9.5:1 compression,
new 1200 cylinders, mostly stock 883 heads, and a Screamen Eagle 6800 rpm ignition module.   Stock CV carb with 46/185 pilot/main jets.
Currently using:
Valvoline Synthetic 20-w50
Gas - When I have a choice, Union 76 91 octane (no MTBE)
Thanks for stopping by,
